Nurse

The practice nurses’ duties include chronic disease monitoring, taking blood for tests, BP monitoring, lifestyle advice, smoking cessation advice, dressings and removal of sutures, family planning and HRT advice, Smear taking, immunisations, assisting with minor surgery, ECGs and Spirometry.

LOUISE MCCOY

Louise has been a qualified Nurse since 2005. She has worked in various nursing roles and has been a Practice Nurse since 2018. Louise joined our team in May 2022. Louise is currently finishing off her training in all the skills required to be an Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP). Louise is a qualified Prescriber.

Sophie joined the reception team in January 2024, in January 2026 she took on our Health Care assistant duties too. She assists the clinical team with their roles. She also has the important task of ensuring all the rooms and staff have all the equipment required for day to day work.

Practice Management

He deals with the day to day functions of the business as well as the ongoing maintenance of the property. He is also in charge of IT; he deals with all the contracts with the NHS and the essential task of ensuring all the computers, clinical programs and data storage facilities are functioning properly.

Reception

Our team of Receptionists provide an important link for patients with the practice and are your initial contact point for general enquiries. They can provide basic information on services and results and direct you to the right person depending on your health issue or query. Receptionists make most of the patient appointments with the GPs and nurses. They also perform other important tasks such as; issuing repeat prescriptions and dealing with prescription requests, dealing with financial claims, dealing with patient records (including Subject Access Requests) and carrying out searches and practice audits. They work in a high pressure environment and yet are still renowned for their friendly welcoming manner, we ask you accord them similar courtesy and be patient if they are busy when you have first contact with them.

Pharmacists

We have part time practice based, non-dispensing Pharmacists who work closely with the clinical and administrative staff. They advise and work on all prescribing issues and matters relating to public health. To make an appointment to see them, or to speak to them, please telephone the surgery.

ANDREW MCGUIRE

Works in the surgery all day on a Monday and Tuesday. Andrew also supports the Pharmacy remotely on a Thursday. Should you have any medication queries please ask to speak to Andrew.

Community Midwives

Members of the midwives’ team can be contacted on 01738 473493 or, if it is urgent, at the labour ward at Perth Royal Infirmary on 01738 473425. Your midwife will allocate your appointment to you, usually on Tuesday mornings at the Surgery.

KAREN DONALDSON

Community Nurses

Our District Nurses provide nursing care to patients in their own homes if they are unable to come to the surgery. Your Doctor will arrange for the District Nurse to visit you if it is appropriate. If you need to contact the district nursing team, please telephone 01350 728068. If they are not able to answer, please leave a message on their answering machine or telephone another number if you are asked to do so.

CCATs

The Community Care and Treatment service (CTACs) provided by the Health Board. CTACs operate out of the Surgery on Tuesday-Friday mornings. They assist the Surgery in providing: Phlebotomy, Wound care, Annual Reviews and other diagnostic tests.

Health Visitors

You can contact our Health Visitor Team on 01350 728096. Health Visitors are registered general nurses who have completed further training in health visiting, They have responsibility for children’s developmental screening. Although traditionally involved with the care and development of children under the age of five and their families, they also have a responsibility through their public health role to promote a healthy lifestyle in the community as a whole.

Primary Care Mental Health and Well-being Nurse. Based here all day on a Monday, during which time he will see allocated patients for Mental Health reviews.

SHEILA MOWATT

Primary Care Mental Health and Well-being Nursing team. Will see patients who need a follow-up after their consulation with Keiran.

Community Mental Health Nurses

The team are now based in Pitlochry Community Hospital and can be contacted on 01796 474 818. Patients can be sometimes be seen in our surgery, by appointment, as before.
