Ordering repeat prescriptions

The easiest way to order repeat prescriptions is:

This account shows you all your repeat medicine and dosage and you can choose the ones you need.

You can also:

  • email our dedicated prescription email address, TAY.craigvineanprescriptions@nhs.scot. Send your name, date of birth and your preferred place for collection of your prescription.
  • phone the Surgery and request your prescription as a message on our new prescription voicemail. You will need to provide your name, date of birth, preferred collection point and the correct name and dose of the medication/s you wish to request.
  • bring the paper form to the surgery, Monday to Friday from 8am to 6pm.
  • you can also order your prescription in person at the reception desk, Monday to Friday from 8am to 6pm.

Collecting your prescription

Pharmacies recommend you give 7 days after you have ordered your prescription, before you go to collect it. Most Pharmacies have a text reminder service which are a useful tool to be informed when your prescription is ready.

We do not dispense medication.You will need to choose a pharmacy to collect your prescription from. We will send your prescription to your chosen Pharmacy. You can collect your prescription from the Surgery but you will still need to take it to a Pharmacy to be dispensed the medication.

You can change your nominated pharmacy at any time:

  • at your GP practice
  • at any pharmacy that accepts repeat prescriptions

 

Questions about your prescription

If you have questions about your medicine, your local pharmacists can answer these. They can also answer questions on medicines you can buy without a prescription.

The NHS website has information on how your medicine works, how and when to take it, possible side effects and answers to your common questions.

Medication reviews

Patients on repeat medication will have their medications reviewed once per year by our practice team. Should there be any changes to your medication we will contact you to discuss these.

What to do with old medicines

Take it to the pharmacy you got it from or bring it in to the surgery. Do not put it in your household bin or flush it down the toilet.

About pharmacists

As qualified healthcare professionals, pharmacists can offer advice on minor illnesses such as:

  • coughs
  • colds
  • sore throats
  • tummy trouble
  • aches and pains

They can also advise on medicine that you can buy without a prescription.

Many pharmacies are open until late and at weekends. You do not need an appointment.

Most pharmacies have a private consultation room where you can discuss issues with pharmacy staff without being overheard.
